Coconut Chau is an archipelago naturally formed at the intersection of two rivers in Tengqiao. With 17 islands, covering a total area of 332 hectares, Coconut Chau forms a picturesque scene—blue skies, green islands, clear water, and silvery beach. The archipelago is situated at the estuaries of both the East and West Tengqiao Rivers, and possesses a unique water ecology. It is also one of the best-preserved natural landscapes in Hainan.
The only means of transportation in Coconut Chau is by boat. As you approach the archipelago, you will gradually realize that what appeared to be small patches of greenery are actually vast swathes of coconut groves, spread out in the bay like a breathtaking ancient scroll. Bodies of water separate individual islands, each island its own distinct entity, like jades against a sapphire setting. Many of the coconut trees are decades to a hundred years old and produce coconuts all year round: There are golden "gold coconuts," blushing "red coconuts," and "green coconuts" green as emeralds.
