On April 15, the launch ceremony for the Sanya International Yacht Zone of the 5th China International Consumer Products Expo (CICPE) was held at the Sanya International Yacht Center. This marks the first time CICPE has established a sub-venue in Sanya, aiming to foster in-depth collaboration across the yacht industry’s "industry, academia, research, innovation, and investment" sectors, and to advance collective discussions on development strategies, industrial growth, and future prospects.
Wang Qiyang, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Secretary of the Sanya Municipal Party Committee, and Li Gang, Director of the Department of Market Operations and Consumption Promotion under the Ministry of Commerce, delivered speeches. Attendees included Liu Dianxun, Director of the Trade Development Bureau of the Ministry of Commerce, and Chen Xi, Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee and Mayor of Sanya.
On behalf of the Sanya Municipal Party Committee and Government, Wang Qiyang extended a warm welcome to domestic and international guests and expressed gratitude to those supporting Sanya’s socio-economic and yacht industry development. He stated that Sanya will focus on building a core area for international tourism and consumption, deepen reforms in the yacht industry innovation pilot zone, accelerate industrial chain optimization, and promote integrated development of "yacht + tourism," "yacht + exhibitions," and "yacht + cultural creativity." Sanya aims to establish a full industrial chain encompassing yacht R&D, design, production, exhibition, sales, maintenance, and consumption, enhancing its reputation as the "City of a Thousand Yachts" and polishing its title as the "Yacht Capital of Asia-Pacific." He called for enhanced cooperation with global yacht industry leaders and invited enterprises to invest in Sanya, sharing opportunities under the Free Trade Port policy and exploring new frontiers in the yacht economy.
Li Gang noted that China’s yacht market has flourished in recent years, driven by rising living standards and improved policies. The Ministry of Commerce will collaborate with relevant departments to support regions in implementing yacht consumption incentives, enhancing infrastructure such as public berths and supply stations, and fostering a favorable environment for yacht consumption. He also emphasized encouraging enterprises to innovate service models, develop "yacht+" products for broader audiences, diversify consumption scenarios, and elevate user experiences.
At the launch ceremony, Shen Jiesi, representative of the British Embassy in China and Director of the UK Pavilion, delivered a keynote speech. The design of the "Dragon Soar" superyacht by Italian designer Emiliano, along with the "Sanya Yacht Industry Initiative," was officially unveiled.
Prior to the ceremony, attendees toured the venue. Representatives from the Italian Sailing Yacht Association, Clipper Round the World Yacht Race, World Sailing, Sanya Cruise and Yacht Association, China Association of the National Shipbuilding Industry, as well as exhibitors, partners, and international enterprises, were present.
